via TPMMuckraker:
It seems that Steven Bradbury, who heads the Office of Legal Counsel for the Justice Department, testifed before a House Judiciary subcommittee this morning. When Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) asked him whether waterboarding violated the law against torture Bradbury basically said — no, because the CIA’s style of waterboarding is oh so much more refined than, say, the style of waterboarding used during the Spanish Inquisition.
But there’s more to the exchange than Muckraker brought up. When Chairman Nadler repeatedly asked to see DOJ documents, Bradbury — who heads the Office of Legal Counsel, mind you — basically kept telling Nadler “I’ll hafta get back to ya.” Must be seen to be believed.
Want to see the refined technique of non-torture Bradbury describes?
Yuck.
Someday kids will learn the names of Bush’s people in school, and graduate students will write dissertations on them. They won’t like it when they do.
